FAQS
Where exactly is the Duong Cam Waterfall located, and how do we get there?
The Duong Cam Waterfall is hidden deep inside the Dong Chau – Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve, located in the southwestern highlands of Quang Binh province along the historic Truong Son trail. The journey begins with a scenic 1.5 to 2-hour drive from either Dong Hoi City or Phong Nha. Because this is a strictly protected, off-the-grid conservation zone, there is no cellular signal here—allowing you to completely disconnect and immerse yourself in raw, pristine nature.
Is climbing a 50-meter waterfall safe? What safety measures are in place?
Absolutely. While the 70-degree incline of Duong Cam Waterfall looks intimidating, your safety is our absolute highest priority. The entire ascent is conducted using professional, European-standard technical caving and climbing gear—including certified safety harnesses, dynamic ropes, helmets, and locking carabiners. You will be securely tethered to a fixed safety line at all times, and our internationally trained safety assistants will guide every single step, handhold, and foothook you take.
What happens if someone slips or feels unable to complete the climb halfway up?
Our technical team is trained extensively in wilderness rescue and vertical rope management. Before anyone starts climbing, we conduct a thorough safety briefing and a practice session on lower ground. If you feel uncomfortable at any point during the ascent, our safety guides can safely lower you down or assist you using a secondary belay system. There is never any pressure—your comfort and peace of mind dictate the pace.
How physically demanding is this tour, and do I need prior rock climbing experience?
You do not need any prior rock climbing or canyoning experience to join this tour, as our equipment and team do the heavy lifting. However, this is rated as a strenuous, high-intensity adventure. The jungle trek features a demanding 400-meter elevation change with steep, muddy slopes ranging from 50 to 70 degrees. If you are active, have good balance, and can comfortably tackle a steep 3-hour hike or run a few kilometers, you will thoroughly enjoy this challenge.
Why should I stay in Dong Hoi instead of Phong Nha for this tour?
It saves you time at least 1 hour each way on the road. The Duong Cam Waterfall is located in southwestern Quang Binh, making Dong Hoi the closest and most direct starting point.
