Releasing Green turtle hatchlings is an unforgettable experience you can’t miss in Con Dao Archipelago.

A short boat ride brings you to Bay Canh Island—the most protected island in the area—where you’ll meet newly hatched baby turtles, learn about their incredible life cycle, and help guide them into the ocean. It is not only a powerful moment that will stay with you for the rest of your life, but also an opportunity to witness the vulnerability and harshness of wildlife.

Your morning continues with two hours of snorkeling at Con Dao most pristine marine spots. Immerse yourself in the vivid beauty of untouched nature, diverse marine life, and colorful coral reefs.

A half-day of releasing baby turtles and snorkeling is an absolute must during your journey through Côn Đảo!

ITINERARY

MORNING IN CON DAO

6:00-6:30AM

Depart at the Tourism Pier and go to Bay Canh island by speedboat.

(The exact departure time will be updated the night before the tour day).

7:00AM

Walking through the mangrove forest to Bay Canh Island:

Release turtle hatchlings back to the sea
Go to the incubation ground to learn about the life cycle and conservation project of the sea turtles.

9:00AM

Swimming, snorkeling at Bay Canh Island.

11:30AM

Arrive back to the Tourism Pier.

Tour ends.

What is the best time to join the Con Dao turtle hatchlings release & snorkeling tour?

The main turtle season in Con Dao generally runs from May to September, making these months a great time to join the Turtle Experience. Turtle nesting and hatching are natural events, so activity varies throughout the season.

Are turtle sightings guaranteed on the Con Dao Turtle release and snorkeling tour?

During the high turtle season, specially July and August, our success rate for seeing mother turtles nesting has historically been very high, at around 98%. Baby turtle releases also have a high success rate during the appropriate period, but depend on eggs hatching naturally at that time.
As this is a natural wildlife experience, turtle nesting, hatching and releases can never be fully guaranteed.
We recommend you inform us your available days in Con Dao so that we can amend the tour date just in case there is no new hatch on the scheduled date.

Why are turtle releases held early in the morning?

Hatchlings are released at dawn to mimic their natural instincts, protect them from extreme daytime sun, and minimize risk from marine predators like birds and larger fish.

What happens if the harbor closes?

The Con Dao Turtle release and snorkeling depends on harbor operations and weather conditions. If the harbor closes due to bed weather conditions, we may amend your trip to the another day or discuss the best alternative with you directly.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer to join the snorkeling?

Not at all! Life jackets are available for all guests during snorkeling sessions, and our experienced boat crew and tour guides stay in the water with the group at all times to ensure safety and comfort, even for complete beginners.
