Ruc Mon Cave, which is located on the border of Viet Nam and Laos, was explored in early 2017, with such a massive size that it was almost impossible to go all the way through the cave.
Not only having two separate side entrances with both dry and wet systems but also the geo-diversity that makes the cave a big difference.
Come and join us in this unique and unforgettable experience.
Tour highlights:
Exploring one of the largest caves in the Phong Nha area with numerous species of plants and animals and the ecological wonders of the tropical jungle of VietNam
Mountain Pass 8 km of jungle and mountain trekking, 1km of rock climbing, and caving.
Climbing rocky terrain and descending down a ladder of more than 80 m with harnesses.
Jumping off from 5 meters high (optional).
Floating on the lazy river with the life jackets.
Itinerary:
07:30–08:00 am: You will be picked up from your hotel/ homestay in Phong Nha, then head to the headquarter for the tour briefing.
After briefing, the group will depart on the Ruc Mon adventure by shuttle bus, driving about 45 km (almost 1 hour), viewing the Da Deo mountain pass, and getting to know more about the historical Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Vietnam War presented by the guide.
9:30–10:00 am: We continue to the Yen Phu village in Trung Hoa commune, where "Kong: Skull Island" was filmed in 2017. You will start the adventure by walking through the jungle and witnessing firsthand the local minority's daily life.
11:00–11:30 am: Keep trekking to reach the entrance of Ruc Mon Cave, where miles-long, savory BBQ will be awaiting you, prepared by our local chef. Both meat and vegetable options are available.
12:30 pm: Having lunch and short break (15-30 minutes).
1:00 pm: Hiking up through the steep, rocky terrain under the shades to get to the cave entrance at the top of the mountain.
1:20 pm: After you enjoy the breathtaking top view and the massive entrance decorated by the millions-year-old formations, the guide will give you a presentation about the overview of the Ruc Mon cave, local life, and cave formations, etc.
Descending two straight ladders (12 m and 25m) is a bit of a challenge. But with the harness, safety gear, and a caring guide team, you definitely have no risk doing this!
After the ladders, you get to the water section, where all the phones and other electronic devices need to be in a dry bag. Then you put the lifevest on and jump off from 5 meters high.
Another option for the acrophobia is getting into the water with a shorter ladder, but this is a once- in-a-lifetime experience, so why not?
Getting back to the campsite entrance, drying off, and having some drinks and snacks will give you some energy before trekking back to the village.
4:00pm: Pack your bag and get ready to go home. We are pretty sure that you don’t want to leave, but you have to kiss something goodbye sometimes in life. The way back is seductive with jungle, streams, and rice fields, AND a gloriously beautiful sunset! The journey ends on the bus back to Phong Nha from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
