Because these are local buses, departure times can occasionally vary depending on the drivers’  schedule and… their “mood”, and the they rarely speak English. This option is perfect only if you have an open schedule and a Google Translate app ready on your phone.

If you are arriving in Dong Hoi via train or plane, here is how to smoothly connect with the local bus line:

• From Dong Hoi Railway Station: Walk or take a short ride (about 1.2 km) to the Nam Ly Bus Station area on To Huu Street. This is the most convenient and reliable spot to wait for and catch the bus to Phong Nha.
